I am many things. A father. A boyfriend. A brother. A son. A friend. A writer. But most of all, I am a human being – a human being who believes all humans should be treated fairly and equally. No one should be discriminated against or abused because of their race, gender, religion or any other trait.
My fiancee Erin and I are co-owners of Addison’s Compass Public Relations (www.addisonscompass.com). And besides doing PR/marketing work for our clients, we also believe strongly in using our talents to help a variety of charities or projects. Erin is on the board of the Ashland County Cancer Association and previously served on the board of the Ashland County United Way. I volunteer my time and talents for those organizations as well. Now, we are partnering with people around the world on a new, very important project – The Pixel Project (http://thepixelproject.net). I hope after you hear about it, you’ll be willing to help out, too. There are a few ways you can help.
We are looking for PR practitioners around the country to help us get the word out about this project. If you are interested, you can e-mail either Erin or myself at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
Also, you can help by spending just $1. Below I am pasting the release to announce the campaign and explain the project more fully.
Dear Friends and Family:
We are writing to invite you to be among the first participants in a new and groundbreaking online fundraising campaign by The Pixel Project (http://www.thepixelproject.net), a global volunteer-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation working to raise awareness, funds and volunteer power to end violence against women.
The Celebrity Male Role Model Pixel Reveal campaign is their flagship fundraiser that will raise US$1 million for the Women’s Aid Organisation (http://www.wao.org.my/) of Malaysia & the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (http://www.ncadv.org/) in the US.
How? By unveiling, pixel by pixel, an exclusive mystery collage of celebrity male role model portraits. As each pixel is removed, more of the picture will be unveiled. With pixels costing only US$1 each and the smallest donation amount set at US$5, everyone can take part!
Between November 25 and December 9, you can get a head start on the campaign through Pledge for Pixels. Simply log in to the Pledge for Pixels page (http://www.thepixelproject.net/community-buzz/the-pledge-for-pixels-campaign/ ) page and enter the number of pixels you pledge to buy once the campaign launches. Your name and country will appear on the Honour Roll of Pixel Pledges and then on our list of donors once you fulfill your pledge!
The full campaign launches December 10, so this is your chance to get in there and make a difference now!
It would be wonderful if you could forward this email request to your family members, friends and relevant mailing lists to help us drum up even more support!
Thanks a lot for your support. It’s time to end violence against women. Together.
With warmest thanks and regards,
The Pixel Project Team
